Huw (Merry Christmas E…): And a Happy New Year alre…

+ 7 - 12 | § Dark Neon Is This Week’s Cheesy Wotsit!

Thanks to the chaps on the New Zealand Internet Music Station for picking 80s Empire’s sister site, Dark Neon, as this week’s recommended 80s Internet site. Dark Neon was chosen by 80s expert, Alan Coffey, who can be heard waxing lyrical about all things 80s on the Cheese’s 80s Lunchbox show every Friday.

Tune in to The Cheese (you’ll need Winamp to listen) on their web site: http://www.thecheese.co.nz/

+ 13 - 4 | § And still they keep coming!

'80s Revival Bands, that is! You may recall my recent post about the fabulously overdress ‘Don’t You Want Me ‘80s’. Well, if all that makeup and silly hair is too much for you, maybe The 80s Revolution will be more to your taste. They certainly have a pretty slick web site ( http://www.80srevolution.com/ ) and, having listened to some of the online music samples, they also seem to be pretty darn’ respectable musicians.

Unlike the Don’t You Want Me chaps, they make no obvious effort to look like the original artists – so this is more a case of recreating the sound of the ‘80s rather than reliving the period. My main reservation is the bit on their web site that says how good they would be for a ‘Wedding, Corporate Event, Function’ or a ‘40th Birthday party.’

40th Birthday party! Heck, that makes me feel so old. Especially since my 40th birthday came and went some time ago. Sob… :-(
