The UK charts are once again buzzing with hits from the ‘80s and ‘70s. According to the BBC, no less than eight old Christmas hits are back in the Top 40. These include the ‘80s hits, Fairytale New York by the Pogues and Kirsty MacColl, Last Christmas by Wham!, Do They Know It’s Christmas by Band Aid and Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin’ Stevens.

The BBC claims that this resurgence in old Christmas hits is all due to “the easy availability of classic tracks to download, and rules introduced at the end of 2006 that mean every download counts toward the chart.”
