07 Feb '06 - 185 W, 1 I - + 5 - 6 Divine is Boy George's Queerest Moment...!

On TV that is ;-) . Channel 4 in the UK repeated Boy George's selection of the Queerest Ever TV Moments last night. It was an odd selection, which included everyone from Tom Jones to Samantha Fox! The out-and-out winner, however, was the late and great Divine. Ah, what a wonderful sight he was when he performed 'You Think You're A Man' on Top Of The Pops (1984), in full drag including a figure-hugging sequined dress (and believe me, Divine had a lot of figure to hug (blush)).

I was fortunate enough to interview Divine a few times and I found him to be utterly charming. Not at all the fearsome character for which he became famous in those early John Waters films such as the notorious Pink Flamingos. You can find a couple of my Divine interviews over on the Dark Neon site - along with my original crackly recordings - including one in which Divine gives me the real story of the 'dog poo eating' scene (ugh!) - just don't listen to it if you haven't had your dinner yet!
